The red circle is the potential location of a large-scale 180,000 tonnes per year WtE plant. The orange one is an existing one. The 3 yellow triangles are waste transfer stations. Collection trucks drop their loads at their local waste transfer station so that it can be bulked up on to larger articulated lorries for final delivery at the central plant. The building and operation of waste transfer stations must be taken into account along with the overall transport movement in each WtE option.
